Graphic Design USA (GDUSA) hosted their 20th annual Web Design Awards. These awards are focused on showcasing how good design can transform websites and the user experience. Elevate is honored to take home a win for the Unleash the Speed campaign website.
Alexza Pharmaceuticals is focused on the research, development, and commercialization of novel, proprietary products for the acute treatment of medical conditions. Alexza’s products and development pipeline are based on the Staccato® One Breath Technology™ (OBT™ ) system, a hand held inhaler designed to deliver a pure drug aerosol to the deep lung, providing rapid systemic delivery and therapeutic onset in a simple, non-invasive manner.
Creating a brand identity campaign for a medical device for inhaled drug delivery can be challenging. There is little familiarity with the device or the delivery method. The new Staccato OBT campaign had to immediately and powerfully convey a multitude of ideas about the product. Part of the goal was to highlight not only the advanced technology of the device, but also its elegant simplicity of use. We achieved that with a simple design. The unique use of the device shape in negative space telegraphs the brand’s essence, its form, and its function all at once.
The Unleash the Speed campaign showcases the distinct mechanism as well as the rapid delivery and immediate uptake benefit of putting a molecule on the Staccato OBT platform. The innovative system changes the way that medication can be stored and released-unleashing a molecule at an incredibly rapid pace. With a single breath by the patient, Staccato OBT can help achieve peak plasma levels more rapidly than any other delivery system by releasing breath-activated particles from a substrate. The particles that form the shape of a cheetah become the visual symbol that embodies the main benefits of speed and power. This inspires the decision makers to imagine the potential of rapid delivery for their molecule-unleashing the true potential of their molecule with an advanced delivery system like no other.
Frank X. Powers, cofounder of Elevate, said, “Our team is constantly looking for ways to enhance the user experience. We are always looking for inspiration and ideas that help push the creative for our clients. We purposely wanted this site to reflect the innovative nature of the product.“
It’s one thing to be proud of the site we created, it’s another to feel validated by experts in the area of design. We are thrilled to see this campaign awarded for best web design, and we couldn’t have done ii without our great team and client partnership.
